Applause Entertainment, one of the key content providers in the Indian entertainment industry, are the producers of a documentary entitled Beyond The Star on Salman Khan that won’t only be comprehensive and revealing , but will also contain rare never-seen pictures and visuals from Salman’s childhood.

A source close to the projects reveals, “It’s going to be a one-point contact source for everything Salman’s fans always wanted to know but didn’t know where to ask.”

Those who are expected to speak on and about Salman include his father Salim Khan, his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, his co-stars (from Bhagyashree to Disha Patni, all barring one) directors-producers Sajid Nadiadwala, David Dhawan, Sooraj Barjatya, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Subhash Ghai and Prabhu Dheva.

“Almost everybody who has worked with Salman wants to speak about him. People like Himesh Reshamiyya and Kamal Khan (the singer) who owe their career to Salman will also be featured,” the source adds.

Kiran Rao made her directorial debut with the film Dhobi Ghat over a decade ago. Currently, the filmmaker is working on her second directorial. Reportedly, Rao kick-started the shoot of her second directorial last weekend in a town near Pune.

According to reports in Mid-Day, Kiran Rao's second film will be a drama-comedy as opposed to Dhobi Ghat which was dubbed as an arthouse film. Kiran's ex-husband and actor Aamir Khan will be producing the venture. As per reports, the film is dubbed to be a massy entertainer and Aamir instantly agreed to come on board as producer after the script was narrated to him.

As per reports, the film is written by Biplab Goswami with a screenplay by Sneha Desai, and the story revolves around three characters. Sparsh Shrivastav of Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega fame, Pratibha Rant of Qurbaan Hua fame, and 15-year-old Nitanshi Goel will be playing the three leads in the film.

The first schedule of the film will go on till January 20 and the film will be shot across different towns in Maharashtra. Rao plans on wrapping the shoot of the film by April. Composer Ram Sampath and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya will also be working on this project

Fashion designer Masaba Gupta will be collaborating with India's leading fashion company Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) to create fashion-focussed on gen-next. Masaba, who owns the fashion line ‘House of Masaba’, took to her Instagram handle to share the news of the collaboration.

Meanwhile, ABFRL announced that it will acquire 51 per cent, majority shareholding in the brand Masaba for a cash consideration of Rs. 90 crore. "Brand Masaba will be scaled predominantly through the digital direct-to-consumer (D2C) channel, leveraging its strong connect with younger and digitally influenced consumers," according to a joint statement.

Actor Salman Khan has sued his neighbour at his Panvel farmhouse for alleged defamation and sought interim restraining order from the Mumbai City Civil Court. However, the court on Friday refused to pass an interim order in favour of the actor.

Salman Khan has reportedly filed a civil suit alleging that Ketan Kakkad, who owns a plot of land near the actor's farmhouse in Panvel near Mumbai. Kakkad allegedly defamed Salman during an interview with a YouTube Channel. Reportedly Judge Anil H Laddhad has asked Kakkad to file a reply in the matter and has scheduled the hearing for January 21.

Khan's lawyers from DSK Legal while filing the suit sought an interim order restraining Kakkad from making any further statements while the case is pending in the court.

However, objecting to the interim order, Kakkad's lawyers said that they received the case papers on Thursday evening and did not get sufficient time to go through the entire suit. They said that if Khan gets a month to file the suit, Kakkad should also get sufficient time to file a reply.

According to Khan's suit, Kakkad made derogatory statements against the actor while speaking to a YouTube channel. Two other people who participated in the interview have also been named in the suit as respondents. The superstar also made YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Google parties to the suit demanding that the said content be blocked and removed from their websites. Khan is seeking permanent order restraining Kakkad from posting or publishing defamatory content about the actor or his farmhouse.

Mahesh Manjrekar's Marathi film Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Na Koncha has landed in trouble ahead of its release. After the National Commission of Women (NCW) demanded a censor on the trailer of the film, the National Commission for Protection of Childs (NCPCR) has written to the Director-General of Police (DGP) Maharashtra and has asked for an FIR to be registered against the makers of the movie.

The NCPCR sent the notice based on a complaint that alleged that the portrayal of minors committing illegal and unlawful acts in the trailer falls under Section 2(c) of The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. The trailer allegedly also violates section 292 of the IPC which deals with production, distribution, and selling of obscene material, section 13 of the POCSO Act i.e. Protection of Child From Sexual Offense Act, 2012, which deals with the use of a child for pornographic purposes, and Section 67 of the Information and Technology Act, 2000.

The child rights commission said that there is a need to investigate the content of the film. They also said that there was a need to lodge an FIR under the POCSO Act 2012 and other relevant sections as the actors used in this film for performing the above said scenes are all minors which is considered an offence under Section 11 and Section 13 of POCSO Act 2012.

After the controversy, the makers pulled down the trailer of the film. The film directed by Manjrekar was all set to release today.

Popular actress Mouni Roy, who extensively works in movies, television and digital space, is tying the knot with her longtime beau Suraj Nambiar. The actress and her Dubai-based business boyfriend are set to get married at a beach in Goa on January 27.

According to a report in a publication, a five-star resort W Goa has been booked as the wedding venue. It will be a sea-facing wedding. The invites for the wedding have started to go out and guests have been requested to be remain tight-lipped about the upcoming nuptials. The guests will have to abide by COVID-19 protocols and carry their vaccination certificates.

Mouni Roy's close friends and choreographers Pratik Utekar and Rahul Shetty are rehearsing for a dance bash which will be held on January 28. Among the guests that have been invited to wedding, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Manish Malhotra and Aashka Goradia are few names.

Mouni Roy has been in a steady relationship with Suraj Nambiar since 2019 but has remained tight-lipped about the same.

Veteran actor Dharmendra on Wednesday took to social media to reveal that he has taken the Covid-19 vaccine booster shot. The actor also encouraged people to get the dose and mask up.

Sharing the video, Dharmendra wrote, “Friends, humble request please take the booster dose.” In the video, he was seen taking the shot with a help of a nurse. He says, “Booster le raha hun booster. Sabko lena chhaiye (I am taking the Covid-19 vaccine booster shot. Everyone should take it).”

He further says, “Dard bhi nahi hua mujhe (It is not painful at all).” He adds, “Mask lagana chhaiye (People should also wear masks).” Dharmendra tells the nurse, “God bless you” and “jeeti raho (Live a long life).” He also thanked the doctors.

Academy Award-nominee actress Sharon Stone has joined HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant Season 2. Stone will be seen playing the role of Kaley Cuoco’s character Cassie Bowden’s mother.

According to Deadline, in The Flight Attendant Season 2, Sharon Stone will be cast as Lisa Bowden, Cassie’s estranged mother who would prefer to stay estranged. After a lifetime of dealing with Cassie’s alcoholism, she no longer has any patience or goodwill to spare.

In the first season of The Flight Attendant, Cassie, a flight attendant who drinks too much, wakes up after a night of partying with a rich passenger (Michiel Huisman), only to find him murdered in his hotel bed. She sets about trying to solve his murder — and exonerating herself — but gets entangled in a murderous web of high-tech, high-finance shenanigans. She nearly gets killed in the process many times, but along the way works through her tumultuous childhood, and begins to see the value in making different choices for herself, her friends and her brother (T.R. Knight).

Along with Cuoco and Stone, the cast for The Flight Attendant Season 2 includes returning series regulars Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews, Deniz Akdeniz and Rosie Perez, as well as new series regulars Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez and JJ Soria, along with returning recurring guest stars Knight and Audrey Grace Marshall, and new recurring cast members Alanna Ubach, Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho, Santiago Cabrera and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The Flight Attendant premiered on HBO Max on 26 November 2020.

Bollywood actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das informed his followers on Monday that he has tested positive for Covid-19. He made the announcement on social media. He shared a lengthy post as he spoke about “seriously considering embroidery" during his recovery period.

He wrote, “Right. I’ve tested positive for Covid-19. Mild symptoms. Aches and a sore throat. Isolated at home. Had only been in contact with two other people in the last month and thankfully they are both negative."

He continued, “Now I am in a room. I have three pillows and a quilt. I’m seriously considering embroidery. Depending on how long this takes, I may wind up with no quilts and 6 pillows, or like 2 quilts. If I had to choose a market, I’d choose quilts over pillows, more exclusive. Almost everyone has a pillow they love. Not everyone has a nice quilt."

He added, “Also…new pillows are overrated. Old pillows, they know you and your whole body. You ever shoved a memory pillow between your knees? It’s a core workout. You want abs or a nap? You ever shoved an old pillow between your knees? All the best parts of you are reunited and comfy. The point of all this is to wear a mask and get boosted. Hope you and your family are safe,"

Meanwhile, on the work front, Vir Das was recently nominated for his comedy special at the International Emmy Awards 2021. He was recently bogged down in a controversy after he posted a video on his YouTube channel from his performance at the John F Kennedy Centre in Washington DC. Another actor has tested positive for COVID-19. With the cases seeing a huge spike in the country and with the new Omicron variant, state governments are putting out new protocols to curb this spread of the coronavirus. Actor Nafisa Ali has tested positive for Covid-19. She took to social media to inform the news stating she is in hospital.

Sharing a photo from her hospital bed, Ali revealed she had high fever and throat congestion. “Guess what I have! A lucky number 7 bed !! High fever and throat congested but doing better with my super medical team in Goa. Hope to be allowed home in a few days for self isolation….#covidpositive,” she captioned the post.

Celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib dominated Twitter trends on Thursday after a video of him spitting a woman's head went viral on social media. Several Twitter users called out Habib for his act which happened during a workshop in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzzafarnagar. Later, the hairstylist issued an apology through a video message.

In his video, Jawed explained that such things are often done with a humourous intent during workshops. He also issued a sincere apology to all those who were hurt because of the incident.

“Some words spoken by me during my seminar have hurt a few people. I just want to say one thing these are professional workshops, as in, they are attended by people from within our profession. When these sessions get very long, we have to make them humorous. What can I say? If you are truly hurt, I apologise from the bottom of my heart. Please forgive me, I am sorry," Jawed Habib can be heard saying in the video.

Superstars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, the all-time blockbuster pair who have teamed up again for the much-awaited Tiger 3, were heading to New Delhi in mid-January for a crucial shooting schedule that would have mostly seen the actors wrap the principal shooting of the highly-anticipated film. However, Yash Raj Films has postponed this shooting schedule given the omicron threat and the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases across India, including New Delhi.

A trade source informer reveals, “The time is not conducive to plan big outdoor schedules. Omicron threat is real and it is only wise that the makers are choosing to be cautious at this sensitive time. The intense 15-day schedule, which was expected to begin on January 12th, stands postponed as of now, given the surge of coronavirus cases across India, including New Delhi. This schedule will now be planned and executed at a later stage.”

The Maneesh Sharma directorial is hugely hyped to become a film that will be a celebration of true blue Hindi cinema on the big screen and pull people back to the theaters.

“Tiger 3 team has visited several cities across the world as Tiger and Zoya are on their most deadly mission yet in the third installment of this action spectacle franchise. The entire team needs a special round of applause for leaving no stone unturned for brilliantly completing challenging shoot schedules during the pandemic because of the scale that director Maneesh Sharma and YRF wanted to achieve. So, if they have decided to postpone the Delhi schedule, it is definitely a very well thought-out decision from the production house,” the informer added.

There is once again a rapid surge in the COVID-19 cases in India. Actor Swara Bhasker has become the latest celebrity to test positive for the virus. She took to social media and shared that she had developed symptoms on January 5 and got tested.

"I have tested positive for Covid. I developed symptoms on January 5th 2022 and RT-PCR test results just confirmed the same. I and my family have been isolating since 5th Jan evening... and I'm taking all the necessary precautions. I've informed everyone I met in the week prior about my having Covid; but if anyone else did come into contact with me, please get yourself tested. Double mask up and stay safe ya'll," she wrote on social media.

Along with the note, in the caption, she also revealed the symptoms she has developed. "Symptoms include fever, a splitting headache and loss of taste. Double vaccinated so hope this passes soon. SO grateful for family & to be at home. Stay safe everyone,” she shared.

Zee Studios on Wednesday announced its latest film Berlin which is a spy thriller mystery starring Aparshakti Khurana and Ishwak Singh of Pataal Lok fame. The film is set in early 90s Delhi and will be written and directed by Atul Sabharwal of Netflix crime thriller Class of 83 fame.

According to the producers, Berlin narrates the story of a sign language expert, who gets into the “dark vortex of rivalry” between intelligence agencies, deceit, corruption, “where the horizon lines between innocence and guilt with mirages”.

Bollywood actor Kunal Kemmu who has not really been seen on the big screen for a while now seems to have decided on making a comeback of sorts. In fact, Kunal who has earlier written dialogues for films viz. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s Go Goa Gone, has reportedly now developed a full-fledged script. If that wasn’t all, the buzz on the grapevine is that Kunal is all set to don the director’s hat with his film.

As per reports, the two Covid-19 lockdowns gave Kunal ample amount of time of hone his writing skill and develop a script. Apparently, once he was done, Kemmu approached Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment who jumped on the project with the condition that Kunal himself helm the film. As for the film itself, it is learnt that Kunal has developed a comedy set in a rather crazy world.  While currently casting for the untitled project is on, we hear that the makers are looking to commence pre-production in early 2022, followed by a month long start to end shoot schedule.

As for Kunal, the actor seems to have a busy 2022 ahead with two other projects lined up namely, Vipul Mehta’s Kanjoos Makkhichoos, and Raj & DK’s Amazon Prime series Gulkanda.

Audiences in the Hindi belt should brace themselves to hear two of the biggest Telugu superstars Ramcharan and NTR Jr speaking their Hindi lines in S S Rajamouli’s RRR in their own voices.

Confirming this significant merger of the South with North India, Rajamouli said to me during an interview, “Hindi audiences will be in for a treat since for the first time they’ve also dubbed for themselves in Hindi, and they’ve gone to great lengths to get the diction right..”

NTR Jr and Ramcharan both had Hindi tutors accompanying them to the sets and also tutoring them in the nuances of the rashtra bhasha in their homes whenever the two superstars had time.

Says Rajamouli, “The sincerity and honesty with which they’ve portrayed their characters will definitely resonate with everyone. It is this integrity of theirs that I think will earn them more fans in northern belt.”

As for the two Telugu superstars being relatively unknown in the North, Rajamouli defended their pan-Indian reputation, saying, “It is not as if they’re unknown faces among Hindi audiences. Audiences all over the country have known their work through their dubbed films which are regularly telecast.”
